Motivation edit
I want to primarily use this property while working with the Census of India datasets. This may also be used for other countries' census data. Please see Wikidata:Property proposal/Illiterate population as well. KCVelaga (talk) 11:35, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

- Comment shouldn't it be simpler to have just one property for the literacy percentage? Literacy is often reported like this, I think. − Pintoch (talk) 16:28, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Pintoch: That's true for a lot of other countries, where exact figures such as this may not be available from which to obtain a percentage. I don't see any particular harm in including this number (even though this only continues to sidestep, for some users, the general question of how best to represent subpopulations), but I wouldn't mind a separate 'literacy rate' property either.
