Motivation edit
Sometimes a location as cited in the source can simply not be given as an accurate item for a variety of reasons: the more precise item may not exist or not be notable, it may be relative to that item (e.g. 3 km from X, bridge crossing of Y, north end of Z...) or located between named features. The exact location may even be ambiguous due to outdated or poorly transcribed names (as is the case with type locality (biology) (P5304) of Solanum loxophyllum (Q17400854), where the city in question doesn't exist anymore). This property would be a better solution than object named as (P1932) for such cases. The Solanum example, notably, would still not be properly accurate even if the village did have an item. Discussion edit
Comment should this be a monolingual string (i.e. have a language attached) rather than an ordinary string? ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:50, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- Good point. I'm not used to the data-properties. Circeus (talk) 03:39, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment. This is directions (P2795). Thierry Caro (talk) 20:18, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Why, thank you. It's embarrassing that a property proposal is so often the most efficient way to find about these properties. Circeus (talk) 16:38, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
