Motivation edit

We have identification code for Japanese universities and colleges (P7251) and Japanese High School Code (P1386) for universities and high schools in Japan, respectively, but no such identifier property for other kinds of schools. Recently, the national standard (JIS X 0408) corresponding to identification code for Japanese universities and colleges (P7251) was abolished since it was superseded by School Code ("学校コード" in Japanese) established in 2020 by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Q1054379) (MEXT). School Code covers all kinds of schools under Japanese legislation, i.e. universities, high schools, middle and elementary schools, kindergartens, vocational schools, etc. So it would be natural to create a new property for School Code. (Note: Japanese High School Code (P1386) is a proprietary code defined by National Center for University Entrance Examinations (Q1770587) and would be continued for their purpose. Inevitably, It has been (and will keep) familiar to high school students, and is a kind of de facto standard.) Mzaki (talk) 20:12, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
