Motivation edit

One of the main limitations of Open Street Map and OpenStreetMap relation ID (P402) is that it does not allow us to link to historic entities, such as demolished buildings or previous political entities. Often it would be interesting to see where these entities were and link to their borders and locations. Unfortunately coordinate location (P625) is often insufficient for larger entities such as states or building complexes. Open Historical Map would allow us to do that for instances such as World Trade Center (Q11235), Grand Duchy of Baden (Q186320) and many others. Adding this property would allow us to link to many more historical sites/buildings/entities and link them to Wikidata. Best --Hannes Röst (talk) 15:36, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
