Motivation edit

Opera Online seems to be an important database about opera. It offers useful information about conductors. Pamputt (talk) 21:54, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion edit

The Opera Online director uses the same formatter URL than for conductors (example: Jean-François Sivadier (Q3165891) -> jean-francois-sivadier-1963). Should we create another property "Opera Online director ID" or should we manage directors using also this property? On the Opera Online website, directors and conductors are separated. Hi Pamputt, In this case, why not stop at https://www.opera-online.com/en/items/$1 for the 5 proposals. It looks a lot like IMDb. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 18:00, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Eihel why not. Yet, one big advantage to have different properties is the possibility to add specific constrains on each property. Pamputt (talk) 18:24, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Pamputt I thought that an illustrious like Karajan must be there, but I couldn't find him. In fact the filter no longer takes into account a "year of death". I doubt that the entries will be sustainable. Disappointment. Snniifff. —Eihel (talk) 21:08, 23 August 2020 (UTC)Eihel (talk) 14:31, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Comment @Pamputt, Eihel: When looking at the website, it offers 104 Works (works), 92 Composers & Librettists (authors), 4157 Productions (productions), 232 places (opera_houses), 3769 Performers (performers), 706 Conductors and 681 Directors (personnalities). If we turn every item category into an item this would be 5 properties. I personally would support this, but maybe it's preferable to e.g create "performers" and "personnalities" first and see if they are used at all. Regarding the data quality, the site seems very active, even through Covid times, and has interesting facts and relations about their items. --Kristbaum (talk) 00:14, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"Performers" has already been created (see Opera Online performer ID (P8790). Currently it is not really used. Maybe an import into Mix'n'match would help to increase the use. Pamputt (talk) 10:02, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ouais @Pamputt:, disons que chuis pas contre. —Eihel (talk) 17:29, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, just noticed, that the discussion is probably already irrelevant, as all the properties have already been created. So it's probably correct to close this proposal. Sorry.

@Kristbaum: why do you write all the properties have already been created? This is not (yet?) the case for this one. Pamputt (talk) 09:58, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
