Robot and gadget jobsBots/scripting can likely automate much of this by matching all the articles on PCGamingWiki that have Steam AppIDs with Steam application ID (P1733) on Wikidata, or via the Wikipedia article linked on many PCGamingWiki articles

Motivation edit

Currently there are 29,000 game articles in PCGamingWiki. 6470 articles (a portion of those articles are controllers and developers, so let's say 5000) have associated English Wikipedia articles, and more than 7000 articles have associated Steam AppIDs (only 3700 video games on Wikidata have the Steam AppID property (Steam application ID (P1733)), so there's a lot of data that's missing here). We'd be able to share data like Steam application ID (P1733), GOG application ID (P2725), Wine AppDB ID (P600), etc. between PCGW and Wikidata.

This is my first proposal for a Wikidata property, please correct me if I've done anything incorrectly :) Nicereddy (talk) 18:21, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

However, not every single PC game is released on Steam. There's a lot of exclusive releases on other DRM platforms like Origin or Uplay, as well as older games that only ever got retail releases. Lewis Hulbert (talk) 14:40, 1 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
