Discussion
  • I'm fine with that justification, but I generally want that people who decide to name external-id in a different way than ID to be explicit about their reasons for their naming choice. ChristianKl () 15:30, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Support Looks like a great resource and library identifier properties are valuable additions that get my full support. I share the concerns raised above regarding the id number and formatter url though and I'd like to see them addressed before the property is created. I question whether the actual RCR number is the most appropriate identifier to use since it does not appear in the url and we cannot therefore link to the resource using this number. I notice there is another INSTITUTION number at the end of the permanent link and if we take it as the identifier it is possible to link with the following formatter url: http://ccfr.bnf.fr/portailccfr/jsp/index_view_direct_anonymous.jsp?record=rnbcd:INSTITUTION:$1 - based on the pages I've checked the identifier would be a four or five digit number i.e. [0-9]{4,5}. For example, if we use this identifier Bibliothèque municipale de Nancy (Q630448)7286 rather than 543956101. I don't see any obvious relationship between these identifiers and the RCR number and, as I'm not familiar with this database, I cannot say whether or not this is a problem. If it is a viable identifier, I suggest that we also consider using the FONDS identifier to link to the archival collections since this appears to be a very useful resource, which could be linked with http://ccfr.bnf.fr/portailccfr/jsp/index_view_direct_anonymous.jsp?record=rnbcd_fonds:FONDS:$1 - for example Albert Camus (Q34670)1316. I hope we can resolve these problems and start using this property soon. Sic19 (talk) 23:39, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Sic19, thank you for your support. I asked an employee of the CCFr by e-mail about this INSTITUTION identifier. She responded that it is just an internal identifier for their computer system (I don't know why they don't use simply the RCR number). So this identifier doesn't really exist, unlike the RCR number that is the official ID for all libraries of France (see this web page). It is also use for the ISIL (P791) (with prefix FR-) and we can access to a page with the RCR number on IdRef (for example Nancy's library). Anyone know how to link to IdRef with the RCR number? (there is a documentation in English but I know nothing about this)
For the FOND ID, I think that it is a great idea. I don't know a lot about this ID (and there are no a lot of informations on the web) but it seems useful. Tubezlob (🙋) 11:54, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I cannot find a way to link to IdRef with the RCR number and we do not have a formatter url that will link from the RCR number to the database. Can we use the INSTITUTION id? It is part of the permalink to each institution and as such it should not change. Sic19 (talk) 14:43, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
