Motivation

In our efforts on enriching Wikidata with public data on genes, proteins, drugs and diseases, some of the data sources used rely on the sequence ontology (e.g. the CIViC database). Currently we are able to model these entries by using the catalog code/catalog property qualifier pair (e.g. Missense Variant. However the downside of doing so, is that it is not possible to create links to the external source. Having a designated property for Sequence Ontology identifiers, would solve this. A related (declined) property proposal exists. However, although the proposal did got specifically rewritten toward the sequence ontology, the consensus was not reached there. Multiple ontologies exist under the Open Biomedical Ontologies framework. I would like to propose to reconsider a proposal to create a wikidata property, but this primarily focussing on the Sequence Ontology alone. --Andrawaag (talk) 12:13, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
