Motivation edit

Stafleu and Cowan's Taxonomic Literature (Taxonomic literature : a selective guide to botanical publications and collections with dates, commentaries and types (Q56649865)) is, if not the foundation, certainly one of the major work of botanical bibliography, covering as much as possible of the nonperiodical literature from Linnaeus to ca. 1950, with accompanying biographical information. It is (alongside Botanico Periodicum Huntianum (Q43150264) for periodicals) the source of the standardized abbreviations upon which IPNI has expanded and which are to this day used across botanical publications. The catalog numbers are also mentioned on the Tropicos and IPNI pages for these works. Circeus (talk) 23:16, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion edit

It looks like the catalog is only available in printed form so far and digitization is planned. I'd prefer to wait until there is an online version to link to and to check against, otherwise it is too difficult to add, control, and make use of identifiers -- JakobVoss (talk) 06:41, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The site I linked to is fully digitized, it even has almost perfect OCR versions of every single page! It just lacks the ability to link by using the numbers directly: the search page generate links to pages and doesn't use the number themselves in the URL at any point.   Support : I guess this wouldn't hurt. These are existing numbers, and they are used to some extent by various sources. But it is at best of limited use: it seems to me it would be more immediately useful to provide links to the pages in TL-2. - Brya (talk) 03:58, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
