USA Track & Field (www.usatf.org) athlete ID edit

Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Sports

Motivation edit

When USA Track & Field athlete legacy ID (archived) (P3926) was created in 2017, the athlete pages were located at www.usatf.org:

http://www.usatf.org/Athlete-Bios/Shannon-Rowbury.aspx (archived copy)

Those pages were later moved to legacy.usatf.org:

http://legacy.usatf.org/Athlete-Bios/Shannon-Rowbury.aspx

Since then, some athletes also have new profiles at www.usatf.org:

https://www.usatf.org/athlete-bios/shannon-rowbury

However, many athletes only have a profile in one of those domains, such as:

http://legacy.usatf.org/Athlete-Bios/Ashton-Eaton.aspx
https://www.usatf.org/athlete-bios/valarie-allman

The new www.usatf.org athlete IDs should have their own Wikidata property, instead of reusing P3926. I will clean up the existing property (which currently has a mix of old and new IDs) and work on populating the new property if it is created. -- Zyxw (talk) 08:32, 15 March 2022 (UTC) -- updated 21:15, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
