Motivation edit

These are some of the modern German dictionaries hosted at the woerterbuchnetz.de dictionary portal. I have been adding these using described at URL (P973) but it would be better to have them as proper IDs. - Nikki (talk) 10:46, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support Really, 7 different id's? But still these seem useful. I guess it would be too much to expect them to come up with a common ID for the same lemma in all of their different sources? ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:26, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think that would be unlikely. I expect the priority of the teams involved is producing accurate digitisations of the dictionaries they're working on, rather than merging entries across dictionaries. There's also the issue that not all of the dictionaries use the same software, not all of them are hosted directly on woerterbuchnetz.de and they're not all for the same language. I don't think it's actually a problem though. We add properties for databases in VIAF and not just VIAF itself... and if we can handle 178(!) different external identifier properties on Douglas Adams (Q42), I'm sure we can handle German lexemes having 7. - Nikki (talk) 18:16, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
