Data type | Quantity |
---|---|
Domain | calendar months. Not items for specific dates such as January 12, 2018 (Q45919572) |
Allowed values | |
Allowed units | none |
Example | |
See also | month of the year (P2922), day of week (P2894), point in time (P585), series ordinal (P1545), P2837 (P2837) |
- Motivation
Integer datatype isn't available so quantity is being used. point in time (P585) doesn't allow partial dates, series ordinal (P1545) is generally used as a qualifier and has string datatype.

- @J 1982, Romaine, Mahir256, Mr. Ibrahem, JAn Dudík, Wadorgurt: @Tacsipacsi, J budissin, WylveWidar: please comment, as you frequently edit day items.
--- Jura 12:53, 12 January 2018 (UTC)- @Jura1: I just fixed some Hungarian labels in the past days, otherwise I don’t edit them often. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 15:13, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose use qualifier series ordinal (P1545). Just wondering, which item would use the value 32? --Pasleim (talk) 15:50, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
- Good question. We only got "February 31" and "March 0". Maybe we should have "36ème du mois". I adjusted the range, but it could be fine tuned later.

- Support I can get behind the use of this proposed property, since unlike P2837 it isn't restricted to the Gregorian calendar, but this seems way too similar in spirit to P2837 (P2837) for that property to be left out of the conversation: as such @ArthurPSmith, ChristianKl, Liuxinyu970226, Deryck Chan, Manu1400: for completeness of opinions, given that they argued for or against the deletion of P2837. - I think the direct comparison would be month of the year (P2922), not P2837 (P2837), as it indicates the day in a given calendar. One could argue it should have item datatype as well, but I can't think of many useful statements to make on such items. P2837 (P2837) is mainly a companion to Wikidata time precision (P2803) and helps deal with Wikibase's datatypes.

- Oppose It is not a useful addition David (talk) 14:15, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
- Comment I can see there might be some purpose to this but I'd like to see a practical example shown for how it would potentially be used. Maybe String datatype would be fine. Or maybe an Item datatype would be better. I don't quite see how series ordinal (P1545) would work as a substitute property for this relationship so maybe somebody can clarify how they see that working too.
