Motivation edit

The above proposal following a short exchange with @Pitke: at Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_Botany#Canonical_views? about the way to include those into Wikidata. An alternative could be to include those into image (P18) and qualify there, but this has several disadvantages:

  • One of those images isn't necessarily a representative one useful for general illustration at Wikipedia or elsewhere
  • It's not clearly why one or the other image was included. Here the set allows to define what the views should represent. Viewed together the might a useful way to identify key features of each cultivar and compare it with others.

Eventually, this might be possible directly on Commons, but it's not clear when and there is no guarantee that this will happen anytime soon. If one day it's possible, we could reconsider the question (Add your motivation for this property here.) --- Jura 12:06, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
