- Motivation
I have changed the label of date of first performance (P1191) from "first performance" to "date of first performance" as the original label was misleading. In fact, the property points to the date of the first performance and not to the WD item for the first production in the course of which the work was performed for the first time, nor to the WD item representing the premiere. See in this context: Property proposal "first representation of".
In analogy to "date of first performance", I would suggest the creation of a property "location of first performance". By this means, it will be possible a) to indicate the date and the location of the first performance on the WD item of a work or of a performing arts production, and b) to create a separate item for the premiere itself if more information is available. The latter may contain much more information than just the date and the location of the premiere, like the performers, the staff, etc. The present approach of using the property "first performance" to indicate the date and using a qualifier for the location cannot reasonably be extended, i.e. it would not make sense to add information about performers, etc. as qualifiers to the date of the first performance.
Background: In cooperation with staff members of the Swiss Archives for the Performing Arts (formerly: Swiss Theatre Collection) and a member of the German theatre archive community, I'm presently preparing the necessary ontology elements for a pilot ingest of theatre production data (all the productions of the Schauspielhaus Zürich during approx. 30 years). For us, this is a first step towards ingesting all the production data held by the Swiss Archives for the Performing Arts (50'000+ productions). --Beat Estermann (talk) 21:04, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

- I'm already storing this data with the qualifier location (P276) on the property date of first performance (P1191) but I would not oppose an independent property if needed to store more detailed data. After all this model has been given some serious thought. Current data should be bot-migrated, though. strakhov (talk) 23:08, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- Comment Here is a list of what we already got: [1]. There are currently some 1100, mostly not theatrical productions.

- Support - after considering the different options, I think it would be most reasonable to create this new property. --Beat Estermann (talk) 19:50, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

- Support - The creation of this property would also be helpful to map a Belgian dataset of performing arts productions that is about to be uploaded to Wikidata. Beireke1 (talk) 14:19, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
