Planned use | translate |number of ids= from {{Property proposal}} to the appropriate statements |
See also | data size (P3575), expected completeness (P2429) |
Motivation
I would like to find a way to indicate the number of ids available from a third-party source. I have posted this proposal in the "property metadata" section because the goal is to keep track of this quantity on identifier properties, and compare it to the number of identifiers stored in Wikidata. However, I think this property could also be used on items for catalogue (Q2352616) or unique identifier (Q6545185)… so maybe it should not be added on the property at all? If all identifier properties were clearly linked to an item about the identifier that they represent (or database that they point to with their formatter URL), then it would be sensible to just use this property on these items. What do you think?
We already have data size (P3575) but I think this is a different use case. A number of records in a catalog does not say much about its data size: these are different things.
