Motivation

I am proposing "research measurement" as I am creating wikidata items for describing long-term agricultural experiments and wish to document the variables measured by the experiment. In my use case, research measurements could include crop yield, grain quality and plant phenotypic traits such as growth stage or leaf area index. I would expect this to be a general property for describing any type of experiment, therefore I am suggesting this is constrained to experiment (Q101965) and subclasses.
This seems like a fairly basic property for describing an experiment and I am surprised I cannot find an existing property, although I note the discussion for "research intervention" made the same observation. I would also expect "research measurement" to complement "research intervention" when describing an experiment.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Richardostler (talk • contribs).

@Gstupp: measures (P2575) is specific for a measurement made by a device, so in the current definition you couldn't have an experiment as a device for measuring grain yield but grain yield is something you measure for the experiment. Would re-purposing to allow that definition give an unwanted weakening of measures (P2575) current precision?--Richardostler (talk) 16:19, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
