Task/s: Upload a few thousand entries for Stack Exchange tag (P1482) extracted from the May Stack Overflow data dump from Stack Exchange.
Code: The code will eventually be available on github, based on using a Ruby interface to the WikiData API.
Function details: This is related to my successful proposal to add the "Stack Exchange tag" property. I've extracted links to English Wikipedia articles from the May Stack Overflow dump from Stack Exchange. I've gone through them to pick the single Wikipedia article that is the correct equivalent entity for each tag, and only if there is a 1-1 relationship. I will convert the existing Wikipedia article names to WikiData entities, and then I will upload the claims for Stack Exchange tag (P1482) via the WikiData API. I will use a single-threaded upload process to ensure I am not hammering the server.
I would like to do this regularly when new data dumps are available; I will manually review pages that already have existing values of this property that have been deleted or differ from the latest extracted value.
If this goes smoothly, I will come back to request future approval for bulk uploading links to tags extracted from other Stack Exchange websites.
Thanks for your consideration! --Bskaggs (talk) 20:32, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

- @Ymblanter: done. I was hitting a throttle limit at first, so I now have it wait ten seconds between each claim. --Bskaggs (talk) 22:11, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
