- Why exactly do you want to be a translation administrator? No translation found on WD. —Eihel (talk) 18:22, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- @Eihel: I'm working with some pages for an event with my role account, but I realized I need the flag to format the page's translation. From there, after reading the documentation, I became interested in getting the flag. ━ ALBERTOLEONCIO Who, me? 20:10, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Support Trusted, member of m:Wiki Movement Brazil User Group, this group have intense activities on Wikidata. Valid use case for me. stanglavine msg 00:40, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello Stanglavine Your remarks indicate the lack of awareness of the status: the fact that Alberto is part of a group or that the group is active, does not qualify him to be a translation administrator. When Alberto writes "help with translations" or "experience in translations", it leads to confusion: the translation does not require to be a translation administrator, it is used to mark the pages to allow the translation. Only, to mark a page for translation, it requires know-how. On WD, he does not participate in translations. On the other projects, Alberto is not TA. On Meta, he does translations, but these translations are not well translated (example: [1]. This is not an isolated case). If he soaks up the manual, he can obtain the status, because he is precisely "trusted". But if he does not have this know-how, it is a risk, even if he is "trusted", imho. If I asked to be admin on ptWP, you cannot write that I am active on frWP, it doesn't make sense because of the same principle. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 16:40, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- @Eihel: Sorry for my short first comment. I understood your point, but when I said he is "trusted" I mean that I know Albertoleoncio's experience on Wikimedia projects with some more technical and complex things that our translation extension. He is a technical user, so If he said that he understand the documentation, I believe that he will do a good job. When I told about the user group I mean that WMB is co-organizer of WikidataCon, and Albertoleoncio is part of WMB staff and I know that he is working directly on this event, so I suppose that some pages will need be created, translated, marked for translation. This is the "valid use case" that I talked about. And of course, being a sysop on other projects doesn't mean that someone can be a sysop here, but I think that experience in other projects is well accepted on Wikidata (see our rollbacker requirements, for example). No one have experience as TA until be a TA, and he have other experiences so I trust on Albertoleoncio's capability. Sorry again for my short first comment, I should have explained better. - @Eihel: I think Stanglavine has already answered basically what I would answer, but I would like to add: In my own wikiphilosophy, users should only request flags when really necessary. I'm not a TA on other wikis because I didn't need to apply for this flag on other wikis, unlike the situation in which I find myself here. In my case, I need the flag to mark some pages that must be translated into other languages and, as I said earlier, I am interested in the tool and I would like to use this opportunity to learn its use and gain experience in it. ━ ALBERTOLEONCIO Who, me? 02:21, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

- @Albertoleoncio: Have you read mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation administration? --Ameisenigel (talk) 14:37, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- @Ameisenigel: Hi! Yes, I read the documentation. As far as I can understand, the translation tagging process is simple, although maintenance is a little more complex. I initially intend to work only at a few pages (as I said, pages related to an event), I believe it is a good starting point until I get experience and start working on other pages. If I encounter any difficulties, I will not hesitate to seek help from the community. ━ ALBERTOLEONCIO Who, me? 02:21, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
