What to expect

This session is on templates and infoboxes! In other words, we'll cover:

• A brief recap of Wiki markup (or Wikitext).
  • Especially these squiggly kiddos ({{foo}}) which do something called transclusion
• Infoboxes, which are a specific kind of template frequently used in various Wikimedia projects to structure information summaries
  • Most prominently, Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons infoboxes have been of interest to the Wikidata community for their capacity to pull and display information from Wikidata
  • Sections are broken out by subtopic (e.g. inserting an infobox, adding a Wikidata-aware infobox, practice using specific templates) and include exercises

This session will be useful if:

• You have heard infoboxes being discussed but are not sure how they're useful
• You are familiar with infoboxes, but would like more practice adding or editing one
