This page documents Wikidata projects at the Architecture and Planning Library and Alexander Architectural Archives at the University of Texas Libraries, UT Austin.

A WikiProject for work done at the Architecture and Planning Library and Alexander Architectural Archives at the University of Texas Libraries, UT Austin to connect collection data with wikidata and enhance wikidata coverage of local entities about whom we may have specialized knowledge. This is an emerging project and will result in the creation of further guidelines, workflows, and projects to reuse existing data.

Aim and Scope edit

To gain familiarity with Wikidata and its tools
To reconcile people and place names against Wikidata for disambiguation
To explore Wikidata as site for local authority records about people and places
To create items for persons or buildings represented in our collections that do not have authority records
To create items for persons whose collections we hold, using the archives at property
To expose data about our collections

Projects edit

Reconciling people and building information, including geographic coordinates, based on data from:

the Buildings of Texas collection,
the Volz & Associates, Inc. collection,
the Karl Kamrath collection and
the Atlantic Terra Cotta Company records

Adding names of people and buildings represented in Alexander Architectural Archives collections who do not have a Wikidata entry
Pilot project - Wikidata as a Local Authority focusing on Creator Names (both individuals and firms) in the Alexander Architectural Archives
