Parts and subclasses edit

After careful review of relevant edit histories, I'm removing preposition (Q4833830) and postposition (Q161873) as parts of adposition (Q134316), and making the corresponding changes to those items.

Reason: An adposition can be either a preposition ("within an hour"), a postposition ("an hour ago"), or a circumposition, but not two (or three) of them at the same time, which is why those three items are subclasses. A part typically isn't identical to the item it is a part of, and may also coexist with other parts. An adposition never contains both a preposition and a postposition at the same time however ("within an hour ago"?); they are mutually exclusive, much like a bicycle or a boat aren't parts of a vehicle, but subclasses of it.

In case there is still some disagreement over this, let's discuss it here. In general, I consider simultaneous claims that A is a subclass of (P279) B and also a part of (P361) B to be mistakes, perhaps added by different editors who may have different definitions of the items in mind (there may of course be exceptions to this rule of thumb). --SM5POR (talk) 14:54, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
