Short survey for SDC features in OpenRefine

OpenRefine logo

OpenRefine is running a short survey to learn about user needs and expectations for its new SDC features. If you upload files to Wikimedia Commons and/or edit structured data there, please help by filling in this survey!

Monthly OpenRefine and Wikimedia office hours

OpenRefine's community meetup of February 22 was very well attended. You can see its recording, slides and notes here. The team now hosts monthly, informal office hours for Wikimedians (online, via Zoom). Upcoming office hours are:

The Zoom link of the next office hour will be posted on OpenRefine's info page on Wikimedia Commons. Please drop by and say hi!

All the best! SFauconnier (talk) 14:00, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi there! I undid your edit because you had removed a statement which had a reference. In my next edit, I removed the duplicated statement which didn't include a reference. So now there's only 1 statement in Q103710 referring to Q15081430. Next time you find duplicated statements, please remove the one without references.

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Zahl_der_t%C3%A4glich_neu_erstellten_Artikel_in_dewiki.png

New OpenRefine reconciliation service

Pintoch (talkcontribs)

Hi!

Thank you for wearing the {{User loves OpenRefine}} userbox on your user page!

Because the existing Wikidata reconciliation service has had severe performance issues recently, I have created a new one which should be faster and more robust. You can add it to OpenRefine in the reconciliation dialog with the following URL: https://wikidata.reconci.link/en/api (or by replacing en by any other language code).

If you have any issues with this new service, let me know.

Happy reconciling!

Hallo Andrea,

Hi, pleas check your script. You are creating the new entry also for MEPs, that already have one - see Q30301690 or Q939484.

Hi - there was something wrong with a filter; I made it undone and will see later - thanks!

Hektor (talkcontribs)

Why are you creating wikidata entries for Euro MP which already exist, what is the point to generate duplicates ?

A ka es (talkcontribs)

Which entry do you mean? I had an file from the EP with 747 MEPs, some could be found, some not (maybe it's a character code-thing...) - I tried to find every single MEP and I found a lot of duplicates, which I merged. If you find a duplicate, you can send me the Q-Number, I will repair this.

This is the struggle with mass uploads; at the moment the dataset is fine: 747 members of the parliament + 4 retired = 751 persons.

Sorry for that, me and OpenRefine gave our best.
