Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Hello, I'm Eihel. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent description edits to Q113331258 didn't meet the Wikidata description guidelines. Descriptions should appear as though they were in the middle of a sentence, typically start with a lowercase letter, and written from a neutral point of view. For example, "pop singer" would be a better description than "He is the best pop singer." If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Hello, I'm Eihel. In case you didn't know, descriptions begin with a lowercase letter except when uppercase would normally be required or expected. Essentially, you should pretend that the description is appearing in the middle of a normal sentence, and then follow normal language rules. Most terms would not be capitalized if they appeared in the middle of a sentence. However terms such as proper nouns (e.g. the names of specific people, specific places, and specific titles) should be capitalized. Commons category

Hi Abike25, I noticed you have added Commons categories like "Category:Headland" to the Wikidata items for some places in New Zealand (for example, Poutākoro Head (Q97336966) – I wanted to let you know that Commons category (P373) should be used to point to categories on Wikimedia Commons that contain images of the specific item on Wikidata: for example, Young Nicks Head (Te Kuri) (Q8058327) has the Commons category (P373) commons:Category:Young Nick's Head, which contains photos of that particular headland. These are very different to categories on Wikipedia, so you shouldn't add broad Commons categories like "Headland" or "Park" to Wikidata items for specific geographic places (although you can add it to the Wikidata item for headland (headland (Q191992)), or that things in New Zealand are part of the Australian continent (Q3960). Also, please don't add part of (P361) New Zealand (Q664) – the statement country (P17) = New Zealand (Q664) is sufficient. Thanks, Canley (talk) 14:20, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
