Merging items edit

Hallo Abraham,

When you are merging items, please use the Merge.js gadget. It helps you nominating, gives the option to always keep the lower number (which is older, so preferable) and makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

With regards,

oil painting (Q56676227) edit

Hi Abraham, by convention we don't use instance of (P31) oil painting (Q56676227), but instead we use made from material (P186) oil paint (Q296955) to indicate this. Could you do it like this too? Thank you! Multichill (talk) 16:50, 23 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Instance of material edit

Hi. Both chalk (Q183670) and sedimentary rock (Q82480) are classes of materials and hence one shouldn't be set as an instance of another (Special:Diff/1536975146). An instance of both sedimentary rock and chalk would be paricular material sample, such as one depicted on this image. Chalk being a subclass of sedimentary rock was alreay implied by means of subsumption as limestone (Q23757) is a subclass of subclass of sedimentary rock. Call for participation in a task-based online experiment edit

Dear Abraham,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits. Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.

The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

self-referencing claims edit

Hi Abraham! Please don't add Wikidata claims with self-referencing sources. Cheers! -- Meisam (talk) 12:32, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Any example? Abraham (talk) 12:33, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Here's an example: [1] -- Meisam (talk) 12:50, 25 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Can you find out why you are removing references to the source? --Abraham (talk) 08:09, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
"filmweb.pl website" cannot be the reference for "filmweb.pl ID" claim. You can "import" the claims from the filmweb.pl website but there must be another (3rd party) reliable source for verifying the correctness of IDs. As an extreme example, imagine if I open a twitter account and claim that this is Abraham's twitter account. Would you accept my claim in the account's page as the reference for account belonging to Abraham? That's what I meant by "self-referencing sources". -- Meisam (talk) 20:18, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Meisam: Q140 - Online PWN Encyclopedia ID. Is also in this case self-referencing source incorrect? --Abraham (talk) 05:16, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
The way you are using it, it is incorrect. But you can use the Online PWN Encyclopedia as the reference for other claims. For example taxon common name (P1843) in Polish. -- Meisam (talk) 09:30, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Meisam: Your explanations and suggestions are insufficient. Indicate in some project standards that the way I do it is incorrect. There are many places where others do it the same way I do. I checked how others did it and copied it from other entries. Abraham (talk) 10:17, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wrong de-pl merge edit

Cześć Abraham,

https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q17576059&type=revision&diff=872099568&oldid=521801784 seems to be a wrong merge. --Fellowship of the Friends (talk) 16:27, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
