Mastodon journalists edit

Hi CJ,

may you please also add other (library) identifiers for your journalist additions? Kind regards, -- U. M. Owen (talk) 14:36, 26 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I don't have that data. Could you provide me some examples so I can see how hard it is to collect and use please. CjMalone (talk) 09:24, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Choice Hotels edit

@MisterSynergy please could I get your opinion on undeleting Choice Hotels brands. https://github.com/alltheplaces/alltheplaces/issues/5354 CjMalone (talk) 09:34, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

@MisterSynergy A handful of items that you deleted recently as non-notable were being used in OpenStreetMap and AllThePlaces. It looks like they were lacking some statements and inbound links that they should've had. Any chance they could be undeleted so that the notability can be established correctly? Thank you for your consideration. Minh Nguyễn 💬 17:12, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Only six of them had been deleted, but I restored them all:
None of them currently meets the notability criteria, so please expand them. If they are being used in OSM, they could perhaps also get a NSI claim? —MisterSynergy (talk) 17:22, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
M. Owen (talk) 17:28, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@U. M. Owen: The NSI project is larger than Bryan, and I don't know what its decisionmaking process has to do with Choice Hotels and its brands, which predate the OSMF by decades. Anyways, I was referring to the longstanding use of these QIDs in All The Places (Q115707984) and their potential use in OpenStreetMap database (Q116859711). But actually none of these QIDs are currently in the OSM database, probably because they haven't been added to NSI yet. Once they're added to NSI, then yes, they would get OSM Name Suggestion Index ID (P8253) claims. (Personally, I've never been 100% sure about this property being a Wikidata property for an identifier that suggests notability (Q62589316), since NSI is still a work in progress, but that's what the property creator chose.) @MisterSynergy: Thanks, the structural need notability criterion should be easy to satisfy in these cases by linking to them from other items that meet the criteria in other ways. In fact, if you're looking for hospitality industry items to evaluate for notability, there was a massive import of individual hotels last year... [1] Minh Nguyễn 💬 17:41, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
