инженер-строитель edit

Hello! This item: civil engineer (Q66005111) is same civil engineer (Q13582652)? What do they say in English? Very thanks! Palotabarát (talk) 11:16, 17 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Palotabarát. Not exactly, I believe. There's a difference between civil engineer as a qualification in US/UK and in the ex-USSR countries in terms of education/scope of work. On the other hand, semantically these entities are close enough to merge them for now, and split them later if needed. We only need to take care of the Q66005025 which is a region-specific concept (study speciality in ex-USSR) which cannot be linked to the generic civil engineer (Q13582652) entity, but to the civil engineer (Q66005111) for people who actually got the related diploma. ambassador of Hungary to Belarus edit

Hello Aestrum! These were bad edits. It was as good as it was originally. Please check some items before editing. Tanks, bye! Palotabarát (talk) 22:34, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

You have ruined a lot of items unfortunately, these need to be repaired back. The position of ambassadors (example ambassador of Belarus to Russia (Q106199116)) is all a position, this need not be entered (see also: metaclass of ambassadors (Q29918297)). There's a good table of structure here, I think take a look. And please correct the items where you rewrote instance of (P31)/subclass of (P279). Hi Palotabarát, how are you? Could you provide me with some link that proofs your words? Which criteria did you use to define these changes as "bad" or "good"? "Ambassador of Hungary" is a subclass of "ambassador" as I can see. And a combination of two classes doesn't create an instance of them in my opinion – we just have a multiple inheritance in this case, so "an ambassador of country-A to country-B" is a subclass of both "an ambassador of country-A" and "an ambassador to country-B" (and those are not positions de jure). At the same time "an ambassador of country-A to country-B" is a position which is taken by some person for a period of time. As I see on the page you shared there's a discussion regarding this, and I agree with User:Infovarius and User:Reosarevok. Please let me know what you think. Hello Aestrum! From my use practice, it seems to me that the theory has prevailed that these positions are in themselves position (Q4164871). In at least nearly 3,000 items, these data are in instance of (P31) and are approx. 20 items (for Belarusian ambassadors) in subclass of (P279). What you linked was just a meeting in 2017, today, three years later, we apply the principle of Metamorforme42.
All ambassadors are included in this query except the ones you modified (i.e. the Belarusian ambassadors). So it is not possible to work according to two principles, because the elements involved "disappear from our sight". Palotabarát (talk) 09:41, 28 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi Palotabarát! It's possible to modify all the records and the query to match the correct schema. Could you describe how you use this data? Is there something that blocks us from applying the fix I proposed? Aestrum (talk)
Of course, anything can be changed/modify, it only needs to be discussed with the community first. Palotabarát (talk) 15:14, 28 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
