Determination Method edit

I've moved determination method (P459) from the mandatory qualifiers to the allowed ones. I couldn't fingure out what it wants from me, and neither could the people who entered 220 of the existing 260 uses of this property. Feel free to reinstate it after you have added values to the examples. I've also addded has use (P366) to the allowed qualifiers because it's used a bunch makes sense. There are also some uses as qualifiers on email address (P968), or with it as a qualifier. This seems to make sense as well, but I hesitate because the change is somewhat more involved, and because the coupling of a key to an e-mail adress isn't inherent in the system as far as I know, but only common practice. --Matthias Winkelmann (talk) 13:46, 1 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Matthias Winkelmann: determination method (P459) is used to provide the data about the procedure that was taken to get the fingerprint. ie. determination method (P459) = OpenPGP (Q2141493), then the data would be about that somebody associates a public key fingerprint with the OpenPGP standard. Maybe one could even have multiple values for determination method. ie. both OpenPGP and the software used to determine the fingerprint, but so far I've only tried with the OpenPGP determination method. I've added the qualifier in the allowed space for email email address (P968). Not necessary but this is data that is found by using the OpenPGP standard and also it can be useful data because sometimes developers add their email address to the user ID and then also add the same exact data to their email. Why some data shouldn't be included, I don't know why that would be unless we consider that email might be considered sensitive data. Email might be considered information that might get picked up by spambots, so there is a risk to privacy. If the community decides we do not add email data, then we'll just stop adding more email data, possibly remove existing email data related to the email property that was added. allowed qualifiers constraint (Q21510851) = data size (P3575) - Public keys may vary in size, even concerning the same key edit

I'm adding another allowed qualifiers constraint (Q21510851) because of data size concerning public keys which may vary, even if its the same key. Sometimes key providers share a larger version of the key they provide as the extra data size may account for other signatory parties which have signed the key to cryptographically prove that they in public approve of the key being distributed to some degree. Even for the same key this value may change as more signatures are added but also if subkeys have expired or new subkeys have been added. Many reasons can affect a key in which way the key size will change. Oduci (talk) 21:01, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
