Act to amend the Statistics Act, 1976, so as to define or further define certain expressions; to provide for the substitution for the Statistics Advisory Council of a Statistics Council and for the remuneration of the members; to regulate the functions and powers of the said Council and to provide for secretarial and clerical assistance for the Council; to make further provision for the collection of statistics and the taking of a census; to provide for the establishment of certain committees and the remuneration of the members thereof; to provide for the publication of certain additional information in regard to statistics; to further regulate the powers of the Minister to enter into arrangements; to create certain offences; to increase the maximum fine which may be imposed on conviction for offences under this Act; and to provide that the State shall be bound by certain provisions of this Act; and to provide for incidental matters.
