In 2002, the heirs of Johanna Meyer-Udewald contacted the Art Loss Register (ALR) to havethe painting registered in their database. The ALR located the work in the collection of Duncan V. Phillips in Chicago. The ALR also found Ernst Schlesinger’s will and contacted his heirs, the3- In 1906, Pablo Picasso painted Nature morte au tableau in Gósol, a Spanish village.- In 1911, the painting belonged to the Kahnweiler gallery.- In 1913, the German collector Franz Kluxen bought thepainting.- In 1925, the painting was in the collection of Ernst Schlesinger.true legatees of the painting.- Between 2002 and 2006, the ALR conducted an investigation to trace the history of the painting 4and acted as a mediator between the heirs of Ernst Schlesinger and DuncanV.Phillips. The two parties signed a confidential agreement regarding the ownership of the painting. (English)
