Col. Howard D. Norris. Westport, Connecticut; October 14, 1951. Col. Howard D. Norris, an Air Force veteran of both World Wars, died here today at his home on River Lane of a heart attack at the age of 54. He was second selectman of the town of Westport. In the first World War, Colonel Norris served overseas as a pilot in the Air Corps; in the second, he was an officer of the Eighth Air Force in England, and was released from duty in 1944 as a lieutenant colonel. In 1947, he became a colonel in the Reserve. Between the two wars, he spent twelve years in China, first as a pilot, then as an executive of the North American Aviation Corporation. Surviving are his widow, the former Ruth Eggers; three daughters and a brother. (English)
