editThe correct identification of some NGC objects is difficult due to errors and misunderstandings of the original observer and of the astronomers that, during time, made and re-analysed the data.
Use the information of different sources, NGC 2461 has different identifications. Following the prescription of NGC/IC project the correct identification of NGC 2461 is a star and not the galaxy NGC 2458!
