Hi -- You recently merged two items for Louis Huard on Wikidata, but they really are two different people (one died in 1842, one died in 1874). I have unmerged the two items and I think things are correct now (I put your description and sitelink back in again). Please check though --Levana Taylor (talk) 17:34, 11 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

And ... the more I look, the more I think they might be the same person??? Information about the "earlier" L. H. is very scarce. The "death" date of 1842 is reported in Siret's 1848 "Dictionnaire historique des peintres de toutes les écoles," where it has an asterisk in front of it which means it is a floruit date! Could the whole thing simply be someone's misreading of Siret, picked up and repeated endlessly by others? This source does seem to make it clear that they are the same person ... @Levana Taylor: sorry for the confusion. I assumed they were the same person since every detail about them that I could find was identical, except the death date. So I assumed the 1842 death date was incorrect. Thanks for digging into it further and finding another source. - Rooiratel (talk) 04:54, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Another interesting coincedence if found on en:Charles Baugniet "He collaborated with Louis Huard from 1835 until 1842 in producing a series of portraits of the Belgian House of Representatives. Louis Huard finished only 6 portraits, Baugniet doing the remainder." Perhaps that could also be the source for the 1842 date. - Rooiratel (talk) 05:04, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Here is another source I found claiming Luis Huard was active in 1842 : https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/henri-le-hon-ville-pommeroeul-1809-1872-san-remo-143-c-c4a7e68146. I do believe that these are the same person. And that the floruit date was confused for a death date, and subsequently the mistake was quoted in various places from the "original" incorrect source. - Rooiratel (talk) 05:24, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Then if you look at Henri le Hon (or Henri Lehon) quoted in that source, you'll find nl:Henri_Lehon on the dutch wiki who also collaborated with Louis Huard, but says that Luis Huard died in London in 1842. - Rooiratel (talk) 05:28, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I'm sure you're right. Re-merging can be done soon if no one else has a comment. --Levana Taylor (talk) 18:26, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
