Correct identification of this object

edit

The correct identification of some NGC objects is difficult due to errors and misunderstandings of the original observer and of the astronomers that, during time, made and re-analysed the data.

Use the information of different sources, NGC 1516B has different identifications. Following the prescription of NGC/IC project the object named NGC 1516 is an interacting galaxy whose component are NGC 1524 (named also NGC 1516A) and NGC 1525 (NGC 1516B). See also this discussion.

NGC/IC project in VizieR (Q1662358) NGC 1516B = NGC 1525 [1] right identification
NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (Q488563) NGC 1516B = NGC 1525 [2] right identification
Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (Q6709611) NGC 1516B [3] right identification
SIMBAD (Q654724) NGC 1516B = NGC 1516 [4] wrong identification!
Please do not use SIMBAD (Q654724) database to recover the data of this object!
