Harassment of Borchgrevink by accounts linked to promotion of Russian propaganda edit
See [1] & [2] & [3] about the ongoing attempts to discredit and/or harass Borchgrevink by accounts linked to the promotion of Russian propaganda, some of them affiliated with pro-Putin conspiracy theorist website Steigan.no. This all started right after the Russian invasion of Ukraine last year and has been going on since.
The ongoing and systematic harassment efforts include attempts to add material such as
- "He is widely known in Norway for spreading propaganda for Washington"
- "he focuses on justifying military campaigns"
- "best known for his campaign against Julian Assange" (a laughable statement)
- persistent attempts to deny the well-referenced fact (three(!) high-quality references on WD, including a scholarly article by Elisabeth Eide) that he is (in addition to being a writer and literary critic) a en:human rights activist (Q1476215 on Wikidata; which covers the concepts "human rights activist", "human rights campaigner", "human rights defender" and "human rights worker"), i.e. someone who has worked on human rights in Russia and beyond for the en:Norwegian Helsinki Committee, a well-established human rights NGO largely funded by the Norwegian government, for three decades, with this being his main profession – i.e. an entirely uncontroversial, incontrovertible and well-referenced fact; Q1476215 covers precisely what he has done for a living for three decades and what he is known for (among other things). The removal is plain vandalism and POV-pushing.
- "Borchgrevink has started a campaign against Julian Assange. He works at the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, where he focuses on justifying military campaigns"
- "Adding essential information to understand the man, a.k.a. PetterLøkd" (which is quite funny since I was a Wikipedian for years before I even knew who Borchgrevink was)
All of this looks very much like it's straight out of a Russian troll factory – especially when we look at the broader pattern over the past year. The (clearly systematic) campaign of harassment against Borchgrevink has likely been coordinated by the milieu surrounding the conspiracy theorist and pro-Putinist website Steigan.no, as social media accounts linked to Steigan has commented on it and gloated about the harassment of Borchgrevink. --PetterLøkd (talk) 01:42, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- One of them is at it again. --PetterLøkd (talk) 21:41, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- This is totally unacceptable attacks on other editors. I suggest that @PetterLøkd stops assuming that other editors are working for Putin or are conspiracy theorists. Erik den yngre (talk) 22:36, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- You have been warned about your ongoing harrassment of Borchgrevink, as detailed above. Wikidata is not the place to promote conspiracist beliefs or harrass people. --PetterLøkd (talk) 14:37, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
