Using "New York Public Library Main Branch" as English label
editAs a member of Wikidata:WikiProject New York Public Library, I am updating the English label for Q7013887 from "Stephen A. Schwarzman Building" to "New York Public Library Main Branch" in consultation with other WikiProject members. Our reasons for doing so include:
- Aligning the English label for the Wikidata item with the title for English Wikipedia article and Wikimedia Commons Category
- Recognizing many Wikidata editors and readers will more easily recognize what the item represents per the Reflect common usage principle for Wikidata labels, particularly when using the item in the statements we are currently modeling
- NYPL notes the building often referred to its "main branch" on its official page for the building
- Press and external sources often use "New York Public Library Main Branch" to refer to the building
- "Stephen A. Schwarzman Building" will remain as the value for official name (P1448) and "Also known as"
