My user name is closely based on my real name Michael Gasser. My interest in Wikimedia and its various projects was and is centrally connected to my many years of work at ETH Library. I currently head the Collections and Archives section there. The progressive digitisation, opening up, use and continous linking of both metadata and content of our various archives and collections is a central concern of mine.
In addition to occasional Wikipedia edits, my contibution to Wikimedia includes the following activities:
- 2015: Project for the establishment of mass uploads from the Image Archive of ETH Library to Wikimedia Commons.
- 2017: Co-organisation of a Wikipedia edit-a-thon and the panel discussion "Wikipedia and science?!" on the occasion of the Swiss Archives Day 2017.
- May 2017 to May 2020: Board member of Wikimedia CH
- 2019: Collaboration in the Wikidata for Libraries Hackday Series with focus on linking archival collections to Wikidata via P485 archives at (cf.
