It is too bad that talk pages do not include a label. As a result, when something like talk:Q99327436 comes up, it is really rather off-putting.

Is this why I have been called standoffish by a property creator?

Well, maybe not. Maybe it's frustration about this "banned in" proposal, which everyone seems to agree needs to exist (in some form), but that nobody is creating.

Chronology edit

I made the proposal on 9 May 2020.
The first property creator to react suggested thinking about Ban of X from Y model as an item. (11 May)
The second property creator to react said their intuition was with the first property creator. (12 May)

I defend the original proposal, puzzled by the reification. (12 May)

The second property creator said we should use the active voice "bans" to focus on the banning document (15 May)
I created Ban of Mediator in France (Q94603373) on the Ban of X from Y model suggested on 11 May pinging the first property creator on the talk page. (17 May)
The first property creator, quite possibly annoyed with my tone (sorry first property creator!), said they were very busy, but added some helpful comments and a couple statements to the item. (17 May)

I mention my frustration with the general lack of progress at Project chat. The workweek begins.

The second property creator again suggests creating the active voice "bans". (19 May)
The second property creator publicly calls me incompetent for unclear reasons. (21 May)
A few hours later, I create a workaround using a simplified Ban of X model. I am able to generate a list of places where slavery/serfdom is banned once I add instance of (P31) ban of involuntary servitude (Q94993180) to the concerned entries (e.g. Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution (Q175613)), as long as applies to jurisdiction (P1001) exists in the article. This was done following the initial reification suggestion of the first property creator and the "intuition" of the second property creator who wanted to focus on the banning document (and mentioned P1001 in this context). The second property creator reverts the workaround, scolding me for trying to make progress by "abusing properties" and "circumventing policy". (22 May) 🔥 🐲
