Please note, in relation to your revert, that the sitelink to enWP is to a page which is now a family name page. Therefore the change here is logical. Charles Matthews (talk) 18:46, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up. After some consideration I now have linked the EN:WP-family page en:Goelet to family name Goelet (Q100942615), leaving disambiguation page Goelet (Q18230179) with no link. --Archie02 (talk) 20:17, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
Mul labels
editHi, Archie02. Unlike "surname item labels" or "published work edition labels", "people names" are sometimes different between different languages, and one person is not necessarily called the same everywhere. WRT to this guy (I honestly don't know what's his common name in Spanish, but apparently es.wiki selected "Antonio Villar Pontes". This is a controversial and complex issue. Summing this up: Selecting an "universal and unique name" for every person and putting it in the mul label... controversial and a little bit ambitious, but hey, feel free; removing the already existing labels in masse... definitely not OK. Cheers. strakhov (talk) 13:39, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
Additionally, by deleting already existing labels, you're breaking things outside Wikidata that... weren't broken before. There seem to be a lot of external tools, templates,... that rely on specific-language labels and still don't have a mul-fallback. strakhov (talk) 13:47, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the combined input. Will be kept in mind. Archie02 (talk) 18:34, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
