Nigerian Nonprofits

edit

Hello Dammy Kaka, I just founded Wikidata:WikiProject Nonprofit_Organizations a few days ago. I've seen you edited some Nigerian NGOs. Perhaps you are interested in contributing? Would be great not to only have the European/American NGOs present in Wikidata. I'm especially interested if there is something like a national register of charities, an NGO ID or if there are umbrella organizations/lists of NGOs. I found the Nigeria Network of NGOs but they only provide a list of NGOs with no information. Best Newt713 (talk) 10:03, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Good day, Sorry for the late response, so what exactly do you need.
And how may I be of help? Dammy Kaka (talk) 07:52, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
It would be great to expand the List of Identifier & Sources with more countries and to look if there is the need to create new local identifiers or legal forms. Perhaps there are even data sources that can be imported to expand the list. Best Newt713 (talk) 06:51, 2 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Okay great concerning the identifier and sources can you expand further with the aid of an example here on wiki data/ I want to know what I'm about you work on.
Thank you Dammy Kaka (talk) 10:07, 2 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Of course. Some countries have a national identifier for all NGOs i.e. the Charity Commission no. (P3057) to identify an NGO, but also to have a full list. Some countries have monitoring organizations like Zewo quality seal (Q56255072) in Switzerland, others have Transparency Registers like EU Transparency Register (Q15851383). Everything that helps to have a more complete list of NGOs. On the other hand, it would be interesting to know more about the legal types that exist in a country, i.e. the Netherlands have vereniging (Q64686674) and stichting (Q19605764). That helps to distinguish Nonprofits further from the instance of. Best Newt713 (talk) 10:18, 2 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
