Anne Frank diary edit

I have reverted the public domain date of Anne Frank. see the source (in Dutch) with the court decision. Note that this is specific for this Dutch version of 1947, there are other versions (rewritten and translated) not in public domain yet in the Netherlands. --Hannolans (talk) 10:30, 24 April 2017 (UTC) If you are aware of the situation other jurisdictions, please add, I'm curious about that --Hannolans (talk) 10:31, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • I disagree with the reading of that source. I believe it to be speculative. Especially that last sentence "Op ‘Het Achterhuis’, is het auteursrecht wel vervallen, tenzij we Otto Frank werkelijk als co-auteur aan zouden moeten merken.". I would consider this speculation, by a professional, but not a source. While Anne Frank is the author of her diary entries, it is controversial ([sourcehttps://www.trouw.nl/home/strijd-om-rechten-dagboek-anne-frank-gaat-door~a62ac11a/ source]) whether Otto Frank is a co-author. --Martsniez (talk) 10:53, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Also §4.4 of the reference court case admits that copyright continues after 2016: "De Stichting c.s. heeft erkend dat het auteursrecht op belangrijke delen van de werken van Anne Frank ook ná 1 januari 2016 voortduurt. [...]" --Martsniez (talk) 10:53, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • That are the texts that are published in 1986, they are not in public domain until 2036 (I created an item for this version: De dagboeken van Anne Frank (Q29562896)). If you make Otto Frank c-author, that is wild speculation and until now all reliable sources has Anne Frank as author of the Achterhuis. --Hannolans (talk) 11:09, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
      • There are three versions of the diary of Anne Frank (A, B, C). A is the original version that was written and first completely published in the '80s. B is the rewritten version after Anne Frank heard a call on the radio for people to publish diaries after the war. Version C is the 'the Achterhuis' as we know it. It is a compilation and edited version of A+B. C was published in 1947. I agree that there is a dispute whether Otto Frank is the co-author. However that is not what that court case is about, and the Anne Frank stichting accepted as much see §4.4 of that verdict. You don't see any complete publication of Anne Frank's diary (version C published online in the Netherlands) as it is generally accepted that Otto Frank might be the co-author. and doing so would lead to a court case with the Anne Frank Foundation in Switzerland.
