With multiple VIAF records edit

Howdy over here. When I have come across multiple VIAF authority records for a person, I have been choosing one that I think will be the preferred record, and making it the preferred record here at Wikidata. To mark a record as preferred, when it is in edit mode, you can click the top of the three little boxes to the left of the field, and you will get a choice of "preferred", "normal" and "deprecated", and you get to select. Doing this will mean that at another site that pulls the data, like enWS, that we circumvent the issue of differing data, so I align the preferred here, and the viaf if entered at enWS.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:06, 8 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

It became clear that my attempts to help and understand were more of a hindrance than a help, so I'm taking a break. There are other linked data / authority control projects out there, so I'm going to take a break here and perhaps come back to Wikisource/Wikidata after a while. Cheers! Huh? Don't believe that is the case of any hindrance. Just something to be done when there are multiple VIAF numbers, which is not something on which WD gives reasonable guidance.  — billinghurst sDrewth 14:57, 10 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
