Wikidata:Christ University is a project that documents the Wikidata-related activity of Christ University (Q5108941) students. The Centre for Internet and Society runs and education program in Christ University. Wikidata, over the last few years, has been quickly becoming one of the most important (and popular) Wikimedia projects. Earlier the students of Christ University were briefly introduced about Wikidata. In November 2019, with the commencement of a new academic year, Wikidata becomes a more important part of the Christ University education program.

Program description edit

In 2013, CIS-A2K entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Christ University, Bangalore (CU) to introduce the Wikimedia movement among the students through their Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) of 1,600 undergraduate students who enrol to the University every year. The main objectives of this collaboration are:

  • To introduce the Wikimedia projects, which involves collaborative work, research skill etc.
  • To help the students to enhance their digital skill, do a critical evaluation of information, consumption, and creation of open knowledge resources.
  • To enrich the content of Indic language Wikimedia projects, which also train the students to access the information in vernacular languages and contribute on the world wide web.

  • User:Ananth (CIS-A2K) (On-field Instructor): Ananth Subray, Programme Associate at CIS-A2K, served as the primary point of contact and on-field instructor for the Wikimedia Education. In addition to taking orientation classes, he has conducted sessions on basics of editing Wikipedia and contributing to the various Wikimedia projects. He has coordinated the planning and scheduling of the Wikimedia Education academic calendar along with holding consultations with faculty members. For interested students, he led a certificate course and followed it up with internships for the students at The Centre for Internet and Society. He has also served as Technical Advisor for this program, He has also overseen the creation of policy pages and their adherence to Wikipedia standards. Upon request, he has also conducted sessions on Wikipedia policies.

  • Kannappilly Sebastian and Joseph George, M.T. Rathi and Y.S. Shivaprasad, S. Nagalakshmi are Hindi, Kannada and Sanskrit faculty members respectively at Christ University, serving as coordinators for the program. They have helped students with the language and grammar of the articles. They have also played a major role in motivating the students to continue contributing to Wikipedia.

This is a group of potential community members who can help in the monitoring of the work done by the Christ University students in the respective languages over Wikidata and communicate to the students over the talk pages or convey to the facilitator at CUWEP. Ambassadors(Students support) edit

Campus ambassadors are a set of skilled students who have more interest in the literature and capability of training the other students. These set of students will be identified from the faculty members and a separate orientation will be conducted for these selected students
