Items involved: Q165258Talk, Q29526Talk | Status: not resolved
Q29526 is more specific (edible species only) in ENG wiki than Q165258. Q165258 has 55 languages but Q29526 only 47. More general pages covers edible too (at least some). Though it might be better to create specific pages for edible for all missing languages, can we add links for missing languages in Q29526 to Q165258? Or how to better improve connectedness?

Most wikis have articles about the church, but it is divided into two different items. All interwikis connected to Q119719218 are good as the articles are about the church. When it comes to Q2026996, arz, de, nl and sv.wiki have articles about the hill (German Wikipedia is the only one that has two articles, one about the church and one about the hill) and the others should be merged with Q119719218. I'm having some fun with the English Bain-marie and the Dutch Au_bain-marie that talk about the same thing, but branched differently, due to linguistics I guess from the comments. English also has a https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q117864884 which apparently is linked to the Dutch one, so I can't change the language linking.
Could someone help me with this? I really don't see the best course of action. I'm also being told by the editor that the wikipages I'm referencing don't exist...

I was trying to add a link from the English language page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Points_of_the_compass to what I believe is the corresponding German language page https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Himmelsrichtung however a conflict prevents me from adding this.
I think maybe https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q11114344 and https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q13179187 need merging but maybe there is a subtle difference and the two pages I am trying to link are in fact not directly corresponding. Items involved: Https:Talk, en.m.wikipedia.orgTalk, wikiTalk, BrightonTalk | Status: not resolved
The issue lies in the Wikipedia entry for Brighton, which inaccurately labels Brighton as a town that is part of the city of Brighton and Hove. After reading the entire Brighton page, it refers to Brighton 26 times as a town, mostly focusing on the old town, and is referred to as a city 37 times with most of these citations. It is evident that Brighton is repeatedly called a city in the text, which is contradictory and perplexing, but also indicates that Brighton is commonly recognized as a city. It also provides information about the city's official status, its size in square miles, and its population of the city. City status 2000 Government • Type Unitary authority (https:// en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Unitary_authority) • Governing body Brighton and Hove City Council (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Brighton_and _Hove_City_Council) 31.98 sq mi (82.83 km2) Population (2021) • Total 276,334 (ranked 59th (https:// en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ List_of_English_districts_by_pop-ulation) Brighton and Hove (https:// en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Brighton_and_Hove) рор.) • Density 8,640/sq mi (3,336/km Brighton no longer holds the status of a town. Yet it refers to town on the main description. In 1997, the neighboring towns of Brighton and Hove united to form a single governing body. Following this merger, the newly-formed entity applied for and was granted city status in 2000. The queen's letter, "Pleased to confer on the towns of Brighton and Hove the status of a city. Now, therefore, know ye that we, of our especial grace and favor and mere motion, do by these presents ordain, declare, and direct that the TOWNS OF BRIGHTON AND HOVE shall henceforth have the status of a CITY and shall have all such rank liberties privileges and immunities as are incident to a City. The letter does not state that Brighton will remain a town similar to the Wolverhampton seal of approval mentioned in the letter. Two places coming together to form a single entity is causing confusion for some. Wolverhampton gained city status at the same time. "Pleased to confer on the town of Wolverhampton the status of a city. Now, therefore, know ye that we, of our especial grace and favor and mere motion, do by these presents ordain, declare, and direct that the TOWN OF WOLVERHAMPTON shall henceforth have the status of a CITY and shall have all such rank liberties privileges and immunities as are incident to a City. No one would dispute that town has now become a city. Brighton and Hove created a new identity in 2000 losing the identity of two towns and bacame one city. If we look at this letter in simple English. By this document, we officially establish and proclaim that the towns of Brighton and Hove shall (now) be (recognized) as a city, with all the (rights), (freedoms), and (privileges) that come with that. Brighton is officially recognized as the city of Brighton and Hove, it is not known as the town of Brighton within the city of Brighton & Hove. It wouldn't make sense to refer to it as such. https://www.visitbrighton.com/%0Ahttps://www.kingseducation.com/%0Akings-life/10-fun-facts-about-brighton#:~:text=An%2520important%20%2520first%2520fact%2520is,two%2520to%0A%2520be%2520separate%2520towns%0A(https://www.visitbrighton.com/%0Ahttps://www.kingseducation.com/%0Akings-life/10-fun-facts-about-brighton%23:~:text=An%2520important%20%2520first%2520fact%2520is,two%2520to%0A%2520be%2520separate%2520towns)%7C If we look at a towns meaning: area with a name, defined boundaries, and local government, that is larger than a village and generally smaller than a city. Yes, there are towns within cities, which are referred to as towns but are actually part of a larger city. For instance, Brighton has several villages. However, Brighton is officially recognized as Brighton and Hove, so it cannot be both a city and a town simultaneously. This concept is illogical, Brighton, Brighton & Hove refer to the same location, ultimately indicating the same city.and other factors to consider are that it has one administrative authority and one city council. One city council, one local government area. the combined name reflects the unified administrative structure of the City. The Wikipedia page mentions the city's status in 2000 and references the city multiple times. As it inconsistently refers to Brighton as a town and a city eg. a seaside town (https:// en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Seaside_town) and one of the two main areas of the city (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ City_ status_in_the_United_K-ingdom) of Brighton and Hove (https:// en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Brighton_and_ Hove Brighton has been called the UK's "hippest (https:// en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Hip_(slang)). city Brighton has six listed Roman Catholic churches; St John the Baptist's Church (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ St_John_the_Baptist%27s_Ch urch,_Brighton) (1835) in Kemptown is the earliest surviving Roman Catholic church in the city. 1118] Brighton has a 5.4 mi Hip_(slang)) city Brighton has six listed Roman Catholic churches; St John the Baptist's Church (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ St_John_the_Baptist%27s_Ch urch,_Brighton) (1835) in Kemptown is the earliest surviving Roman Catholic church in the city. These are a few of the references. Wikivoyage however only refers to as a city. Brighton's authorities, media, educational institutions, and transportation hubs, local residents, national newspapers all recognize it as a city. Upon entering the city, the signs indicate Brighton & Hove, not Brighton, and all road signs from 2000 onwards refer to city center not town. I also contacted the mayor of Brighton on the issue on Wikipedia, and she confirmed my concerns. She then directed me to the Brighton communications department, who also expressed frustration with the ongoing situation. I have sent your email to our Comms department who will be able to help. esplanade (Q88372) edit

There has been some confusion among interwiki editors on the meaning of the Swedish word esplanad and its Finnish counterpart puistokatu. The word esplanad/puistokatu means a wide street with a tree-lined median. (Puistokatu literally means "park street".) However, for etymological reasons these words have been linked to the English word esplanade which is a false friend. An esplanade can never be called an esplanad or a puistokatu in Swedish or Finnish, and an esplanad/puistokatu can rarely be called an esplanade in English. Please de-link these words. --194.68.104.17 13:25, 6 March 2024 (UTC) |

The French page as well as the Spanish one have been recently moved to "Cyanobacteriota". As a result, they are not linked any more to the wiki pages in other languages (and there are many, about 80 of them), they are only linked to each other. I tried to solve the problem, being reverted each time. The term is generally distinguishable, but it seems like the Vietnamese id doesn't match with it. The Vietnamese sitelink "Chủ nghĩa đế quốc Trung Hoa" basically translated to "Chinese imperialism" in English, but somehow it is grouped with Imperial China (Q12060881)'s page rather than what it should have been (Q116453512). Since it has been restricted and unable to edit, this link stuck.
