- Motivation
The existing inspired by (P941) is restricted to individual creative works, and cannot support whole genres that have a common inspiration. Pharos (talk) 23:18, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Why not use main subject (P921)? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 23:54, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- That also says it is restricted to individual creative works. The whole set of inspired by, main subject, depicts, setting, would seem to exclude genres, though perhaps that could be changed as an alternative.--Pharos (talk) 00:01, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
- While we're at it, it might make sense to apply these properties to fictional characters and other elements as well.--Pharos (talk) 00:10, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: I've expanded the scope of both main subject (P921) and inspired by (P941) to allow their use on genre items (diff, diff). I'm still pretty new to this, let me know if this is the appropriate solution.--Pharos (talk) 16:40, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
