Cydebot edit
Cydebot (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
Operator: Cyde (talk • contribs • logs)
Task/s: Category changes (primarily name changes and deletions). Cydebot has been doing these changes on the English Wikipedia for over a decade, amassing the highest number of edits of any account, and is similarly already syncing these changes on Wikidata, but appears to be hitting some edit limits because it is not bot-flagged.
See here for relevant context.
Code: The cfd.py script for PyWikiBot.
Function details: Just cfd.py, which renames and deletes categories as a result of closed CFDs on enwiki. --Cyde (talk) 14:20, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Support There's some doubt about whether the bot flag is necessary here, but I think it wouldn't hurt in this case. ArthurPSmith (talk) 15:54, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- I was involved in the events which resulted in the filing of this request, and the flag is asked for the task which is performed elsewhere (and was being performed for a long time), so that it looks completely uncontroversial to me. I can approve the request in a couple of days provided there have been no objections raised.--Ymblanter (talk) 20:47, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- As an enwiki admin with specific experience of category changes, and with awareness of how they should be reflected in Wikidata, I strongly support this request. Fayenatic london (talk) 19:34, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
