Wikidata:WikiProject Canada Open Government and COVID-19

This WikiProject aims to identify and document the Open Data COVID-19 resources provided by the Canadian government in response to the global pandemic. Creating items for the major reports, bills and other pieces of legislative changes will allow better understanding of the Government of Canada's ability to effectively implement Open Data and Open Government mandates.

Canada and Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) edit

Canada seeks to follow open government principles in its portrayal and access to resources associated with COVID-19. Access to these resources falls under the Open Government Licence - Canada

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) resources from StatCan are regularly updated and relevant to staying informed on various aspects being impacted and studied during the outbreak. For example, these regular updates are demonstrated with the presentation of COVID-19 epidemiological and economic research data.

The epidemiological data includes regularly updated maps, modelling, datasets, and reports, of which the most recent ones are listed here:

Economic and socio-economic data is collected and compiled into two summaries, the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) statistics, table data on a weekly basis by applications for benefits based on province/territory, gender and age group of applicants. The StatCan COVID-19 data perspective provides a more nuanced look at the impact of the virus on Canada's socio-economic landscape through articles on various subjects, including a Geospatial Explorer Hub.
