Here's a CNN article on Bhutan: [1] --WiseWoman (talk) 09:42, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Things not showing up

edit

I posted this on the main project page, too:

I've hit a little problem, I put the phone number in for Kujalleq (Q478813) and there was already a head of government (P6) entered, but both are not showing up on Kujalleq. Am I missing some step? Usually the data was pushed the next day or so. And there is an interesting problem that shows up for Kujalleq (Q478813). It was formed from formerly independent entities Nanortalik (now renamed Kujalleq (Q478813)), Narsaq Municipality (Q2336567), and Qaqortoq (also renamed Kujalleq (Q478813)). They all now share the same web page, but official website (P856) flags a distinct-values constraint. It is perhaps understandable that such small administrative units don't need their own web pages.

Choosing the semantically correct property

edit

We posted the following question on the main project page and received quite a few replies. We suggest having a look on the GovDirectory discussion page. --Nyucodes (talk) 11:55, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there :) As part of a university project we are trying to complete the govermental agencies of Singapore (Q334). We ( Nyucodes, VengCodes, Xpi09) were checking all ministries of Singapore. Each ministry has divisions, statuary boards and partners agencies. At first we added the statuary boards as subsidiary in e.g. the wiki data item Ministry of Defense of Singapore (Q4294509), but later we realised that these are not subsidiaries. Similar statements for the division, statuary board and partner agencies don’t seem to exist. So we were wondering if we should introduce them. Other people resorted to another approach by creating the specific division/statuary board as item and adding e.g. the Ministry of Defense of Singapore (Q4294509) as parent organisation, see. Are there any appropiate properties for our specific case or shall we introduce new ones? Any help is appreciated! :) Xpi09 (talk) 11:29, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Are constituencies agencies in Singapore?

edit

The following is a question from Ainali (talk) regarding the WikiProject Govdirectory/Singapore taken from the discussion page [[2]]. This discussion is still on going. --Nyucodes (talk) 11:55, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nice with the constituencies. Are they also organizations/agencies/legal entities or are they only areas for electoral administration? The reason I am asking is that this might differ between countries (in Sweden for example constituencies are not organizations). Ainali (talk) 13:19, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for asking! Constituencies in Singapore are electoral divisions for the purpose of Parliamentary elections and Presidential elections. A Single Member Constituency has a single member of the parliament, where as a Group Representation Constituency consist of multiple electoral divisions and members of the parliament https://www.eld.gov.sg/elections_type_electoral.html. Nyucodes (talk) 14:55, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, so they wouldn't be expected to have contact details, people employed or legal form (P1454)? (And then we can exclude them from the queries for the website.) Ainali (talk) 15:36, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From our understanding the representatives of the constituencies have contact details, but constituency themselves do not. Xpi09 (talk) 19:18, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, for this project we are focusing on organizations (and only mention the head of each (by connecting them through office held by head of the organization (P2388) or office held by head of government (P1313))). I looked randomly at three different ones and neither of them seemed to be modeled as an organization, so if they are, I think there is some work to be done before we include them or they will show up as empty on the website. The CIA

edit

I know not everyone likes the CIA, but they have a great world fact book that is useful as a source. Here's Greenland. --WiseWoman (talk) 07:14, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Useful pages on Wikipedia

edit

I found this great page on Wikipedia with an overview of the municipalities of Greenland [3].

What do we call this?

edit

Nana had been using divided territory (Q11396118) for Palestine, but the two other countries that are said to be divided countries are Korea and Zyprus. That is, these are countries that used to be together, but are now separated. Palestine (just like the USA and many other countries) consist of a number of non-contiguous bits. We have found transcontinental country (Q1323642), but that is not the term we need exactly. I would expect something like "non-contiguous country", but can't find that as a geographical term anywhere. Ideas, anyone? --WiseWoman (talk) 08:55, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with the single value constraint

edit

I have run into a problem with the single value constraint. There are some very small municipalities such as Kujalleq (Q478813) that have small villages such as Aappilattoq (Q59117) and guess what? They have the same home page [4]. So there is no way for me to remove the non-unique flag... I would be much in favor of removing the single value constraint, but the discussion seems to have died down [5]. --WiseWoman (talk) 08:29, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
