  The term "punitive expedition" was used by colonial powers to obfuscate the violence of what was, in reality, a brutal incursion into someone else's land. Should we consider naming these conflicts differently or adding aliases so that they're not just described as "expeditions"?

  Rather than describing these expeditions solely as the actions of colonial states, we will try to describe them in as conflicts, including both the colonial and anti-colonial perspectives/experiences.
