Project Scope edit

Fanworks and fanwork-only characters (like Summer Day's Dream or Memory of Phantasm):

  • Currently out of scope, since they're not part of canon. This may change in the future. (See project talk page for ongoing discussion about this.)

Named background / "only mentioned in lore" characters:

  • Policy TBD.

Nameless characters are excluded and should not be itemized, unless:

  • If they are a nameless character in one of the games: They must have a well-defined fan name. (i.e. Daiyousei, Koakuma)
  • If they are a nameless character anywhere else: They must have a well-defined fan name (NOT merely their occupation, family, or species name) AND must have an impact in the story they appear in. (i.e. Tokiko)

Special cases:

  • Rin Satsuki (scrapped third playable character in EoSD): Out of scope for this project, since her implementation was never finished.
  • Reimu and Marisa's appearances in Seihou 1: Out of scope for this project.
  • Yuuka's appearance in Seihou 2: Out of scope for this project.

These limits on the project scope may be changed at a later point in time. Check the project talk ("Discussion") page for the latest updates.

Naming Standard edit

Recent discussions with another editor that was attempting to standardize the item names for the games resulted in the following standard:

Game names edit

English game names should be standardized in the following manner: "Hepburnized title ~ English subtitle".

Alternate names can represent common abbreviations that the games are commonly identified by, such as by their number ("Touhou 6" or "TH6") or by making their name an acronym ("EoSD").

Most game names fall under this standard title format, but at times, ZUN has differed from this format.

  • Some titles are reversed, where the subtitle (which is not always in English) is first and the Japanese title is second.
  • Some titles have a Japanese main title that does not contain the characters of "Touhou". This is represented in the English item title.
  • Regarding Hisoutensoku: Touhou 12.3 had a very long Japanese subtitle and it is not included in the English item title - the subtitle is almost always dropped in the western section of the Touhou community regardless. The Hepburnized subtitle is listed as an alternate name.

Character names: Western or Japanese naming order? edit

The character name list in the following section use the Western naming order (e.g. "Reimu Hakurei" instead of "Hakurei Reimu") for ease of reference, however whether this should be standardized across all Touhou character items has not been decided.

Characters and Source Material edit

Most final game bosses are bolded. In cases where there are multiple potential final bosses, the one which is canon to the series (usually Reimu's playthrough) is highlighted.
