The property should use rather the Herder-Institut ID edit

@Urban 3th, ديفيد_عادل_وهبة_خليل_2, Jneubert, YULdigitalpreservation, Pintoch: For this property, the Wikidata indentifier was chosen instead of the authentic Herder-institut identifier. This is problematic because

  • the "Q" identifier is not displayed at all on the target page, it cannot be ascertained, verified or corrected there.
  • the "Q" identifier of the target page cannot be adapted to changes in Wikidata, if the meaning or description of the item page on Wikidata become more specified, changed, if the item is split into multiple items, if the item is merged or redirected etc.

IMHO we should use the Herder-Institut identifier when we link to the Herder-Institut page.

An example: the item Labská bouda (Q11752534) linked to https://www.herder-institut.de/bildkatalog/wikidata/Q11752534. However, this links is immediately automatically redirected to https://www.herder-institut.de/bildkatalog/index/index?tree%5BOrte%5D=43622. The Wikidata ID "Q11752534" is nowhere visible at the target page nor in the target URL. However, the item Labská bouda (Q11752534) which was originally intended for both Elbe Baudes, the current as well as the former, was thematically narrowed to the current baude only, because the former buliding become split to a new item Labská bouda (Q113598625). Most of the Wikimedian's photos belong to the new shed (built in 1975), most of the postcard scans belong to the old shed (burned down in 1965). Internal links within Wikimedia projects can be adapted accordingly. But unfortunately, the Herder-Institut links to Wikidata with the wrong ID now. And we refer to the Herder-Institut via this misleading uncorrected ID. If we were referring via the authentic ID of the target page (as we do to all other external databases), then we would be in control of where we link from and to. We should use 43622 as the ID of the target page, and the URL mask should be changed to that. The URL mask should be https://www.herder-institut.de/bildkatalog/index/index?tree%5BOrte%5D=$1 and the current statements should be transformed to the real targed ID. The "QID" from the targed databasecan be used to find and detect relevant matching items, but should be not used to refer and link Herder-Institut pages from Wikidata (and Wikimedia at all) pages. Hi ŠJů,
the "Q" identifier is displayed on the target page, it can be ascertained, verified and corrected there.
The "Q" identifier represents the object, which is listet on the right site of the screen in the facet-area. A mouse-click on the symbol "I" opens a separate screenwindow with the metadata and other informations about this object and here the "Q" identifier is displayed and leads to the corresponding wikipedia article.
The example "Elbfallbaude" (Q11752534): The corresponding wikipedia article presents the information of the old and the new building and this is what we want to show to the users of the database.
The mentioned target URL https://www.herder-institut.de/bildkatalog/index/index?tree%5BOrte%5D=43622 represents the status of the database on 24.08.2022 and 43622 is the number in the alphabetic ordered object-index-tree on 24.08.2022. With every update of the database the index-tree is rebuilt and today (25.08.2022) the target page of the the "Elbfallbaude" (Q11752534) is https://www.herder-institut.de/bildkatalog/index/index?tree%5BOrte%5D=43623. The number in the alphabetic ordered index-tree is not permanent.
The solution of the problem is the change of the QID "Elbbaude" (Q11752534) to the QID "Elbfallbaude" (Q113598625) in the database of the Image-Archive and the correction of the link in the database of Wikidata, which was already done from someone else.
By the way the entry "Elbbaude" (Q11752534) has to be corrected, because the new building is no more a refuge hiker's hut but a hotel. Urban 3th (talk) 10:45, 25 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
